The Forge

Everything you need to escape...

Our luxury bell tent accommodation has been thoughtfully designed to ensure you have a true back-to-nature experience but with all the modern comforts to make your stay with us extra special.

Our tents are carpeted and have plenty of blankets and cushions to make it super cosy. We are very child friendly and can provide travel cots and highchairs on request. Each tent is situated on its own wooden deck with a well-appointed camp kitchen and its own composting toilet.

Outside, you have your own fire pit where you can sizzle your own bacon and toast marshmallows. We provide a bag of logs to get you started and Jamie is also on hand if you'd like to learn a bit more about campfire cooking. Or you can take a wander up the hill to the fire circle on our own Iron Age hill fort, which is the perfect place to enjoy a sun-downer or gaze up at the stars.

WELCOME HAMPERS

Our welcome hampers are a great way to ease into your stay with us. As well as local organic bread, cheese and chutney, we'll supply you with our own fresh eggs, handmade Forge sausages plus a selection of seasonal fruit and vegetables from our veg patch. We'll also throw in a sample of local cider and ales which are produced just a few miles from our place.

Half-Day Bushcraft Experiences

If you are looking to fully immerse yourself in the great outdoors, why not add a half day bushcraft experience to your stay. Our resident bushcraft and survival expert, Jamie, can show you lots of different fire lighting techniques, teach you knife skills and then guide you through how to make the most out of your campfire during your stay with some nifty hints and tips on how to prepare wild food and cook it outdoors. Simply select this additional option when you book your tent.

What a place. Had an amazing stay. The tents are very luxurious with everything you could possibly need for the stay. Very nice touches and details by the owners - they have thought of everything to make your stay comfortable. Very warm welcome from Sheena the owner who is very nice and easy going. Very very impressed by this place, the pics don’t do it justice - great facilities, great owners and every possible comfort included (and more) for an off grid getaway - plus we got the weather :) Will definitely be staying again. Cannot recommend it enough

How do composting toilets work?

Our composting toilets are not only beautiful but they also pay a key part in our commitment to being as sustainable as possible and providing an authentic off-grid experience for our guests. As well as saving water, the waste that is produced is used to fertilise the trees in our newly planted woodland.

So how does it work? It's very simple..... it uses aerobic decomposition to break down the waste into a rich, safe hummus ready to be used as fertiliser. It also makes a great home for our worms! You can use the toilet as you would any normal flushing toilet - except you just have to throw a cup of sawdust down the hole when you are done. There is absolutely no smell and you can even enjoy spectacular views while you are at it!
