The Forge

Reopening on July 13th...

...with a few special measures to keep us all safe. Until the current guidelines are updated we will only be able to host two separate parties of guests in our bell tents at any one time, to ensure everyone has a designated shower, kitchen and toilet for their sole use during their stay. We will also be limiting access to our communal cabin space, which is shown as Drewyn on the map. However, this will not apply if you would like to book the whole site out. Please give us a call if you would like to book all of the tents for your friends and family and we will be happy to help! You can also find out more about what to expect from a post-lockdown stay at The Forge here.

During the school summer holidays we will be running FREE bushcraft activities during your stay including fire-lighting, campfire cooking, foraging and axe-throwing, observing social distancing rules of course!

Checking into one of our lovely bell tents soon? Here is our online Welcome Pack where you will find all the details about what you can look forward to during your stay.

Everything you need to escape...

Our luxury bell tent, gypsy caravan and cabin accommodation has been thoughtfully designed to ensure you have a true back-to-nature experience but with all the modern comforts to make your stay with us extra special.

Our tents are carpeted and have plenty of blankets and cushions to make it super cosy. We are very child friendly and can provide travel cots and highchairs on request. Each tent is situated on its own wooden deck with a well-appointed camp kitchen and its own composting toilet.

Outside, you have your own fire pit where you can sizzle your own bacon and toast marshmallows. We provide a bag of logs to get you started and Jamie is also on hand if you'd like to learn a bit more about campfire cooking. There is a large undercover games cabin with a pool table and comfy leather sofas for chilling out in. Or you can take a wander up the hill to the fire circle on our own Iron Age hill fort, which is the perfect place to enjoy a sun-downer or gaze up at the stars.

WELCOME HAMPERS

Our welcome hampers are just an additional £30 and a great way to ease into your stay with us. As well as local bread, cheese, jam and chutney, we'll supply you with our own fresh eggs plus a selection of seasonal fruit and vegetables from our veg patch. We'll also throw in a sample of local cider and ales which are produced just a few miles down the road from our place.

BUSHCRAFT COURSES

The Forge is also home to the Wild Bushcraft Company and we offer all our glampers 15% off half and full day bushcraft and hunting weapons courses. Once you have booked in we'll send you over a promotional code. Simple!

What a place. Had an amazing stay. The tents are very luxurious with everything you could possibly need for the stay. Very nice touches and details by the owners - they have thought of everything to make your stay comfortable. Very warm welcome from Sheena the owner who is very nice and easy going. Very very impressed by this place, the pics don’t do it justice - great facilities, great owners and every possible comfort included (and more) for an off grid getaway - plus we got the weather :) Will definitely be staying again. Cannot recommend it enough.

How do composting toilets work?

Our composting toilets are not only beautiful but they also pay a key part in our commitment to being as sustainable as possible and providing an authentic off-grid experience for our guests. As well as saving water, the waste that is produced is used to fertilise the trees in our newly planted woodland.

So how does it work? It's very simple..... it uses aerobic decomposition to break down the waste into a rich, safe hummus ready to be used as fertiliser. It also makes a great home for our worms! You can use the toilet as you would any normal flushing toilet - except you just have to throw a cup of sawdust down the hole when you are done. There is absolutely no smell and you can even enjoy spectacular views while you are at it!
