This is no ordinary burnout retreat. We combine experiences in nature with deep expertise to help you not only address the symptoms of your burnout, but also to focus on the triggers so you can break the cycle once and for all.
This is your opportunity to take some time out for yourself, using nature and the great outdoors to provide the physical and mental space for you to free yourself from burnout. Over the course of this five day programme, you'll spend time in the mornings focusing on the triggers and underlying causes, and how people have successfully freed themselves from the cycle. There'll be a big focus on nutrition and gut health, plus understanding how the chemicals in our brain impact our behaviours. But it's not just all talk and theory.... we'll make sure you leave equipped with a clear plan for how to stop it happening all over again.
This is all set against a programme of afternoon activities which are designed to immerse you in nature and help you to harness the healing power of woodland, water and wild food. We'll help you to find the right balance of relaxation, personal challenge and natural highs, all of which are designed to take you away from your everyday stresses and allow you the time and space to focus on yourself and your recovery.
So that you make the very most of the opportunity to focus on yourself, we'll take care of all the food, accommodation and activities for you. Eating well is a huge part of taking care of yourself and plays a central role throughout the week. We also appreciate that rest and a good night's sleep may be the main priority, which is why our itinerary is completely flexible - you are welcome to join as many or as few sessions as you wish. We can fully understand the draw of a hammock and a good book!
You'll be hosted by Dr Sonia Hutton-Taylor, who has unique expertise at the intersection of wellbeing at work, career guidance and medical education. Sonia has run successful burnout programmes for many years and is also passionate about getting out into nature to complement her work. Sheena Corry is the founder and director at The Forge, which she established in response to tackling her own burnout after working a 20 year corporate career in the City. With a background in behavioural change management, management consulting and diversity & inclusion she brings her own lived experience of how immersion in nature helped her find a better balance in her life.
So that we can better tailor the programme to suit you, we'll ask you to complete a short, confidential questionnaire before you arrive so that we can assess your level of burnout. This will only take around 5 minutes and is designed to help us ensure you get the most out of the week.
We have 12 places on the programme and you have the option of staying in your own private bell tent or sharing with one other person on a twin basis. If you're a couple or would like to come with up to three other friends, we can accommodate you in a double and up to two additional single beds in a tent, so just let us know when you book and we can arrange this for you very easily.
Here's the detailed itinerary. Morning sessions run from 10am-12 noon and afternoon sessions from 2-4pm. Lunch will be at 12.30pm and dinner at 6.30pm with evening sessions at 8pm for an hour or so.
