Maybe you've seen images of people galloping along glorious mountain tops, dressed only in shorts and a t-shirt, smiles emblazoned across their faces and thought, "I want to do that!"

Well, the reality is that you CAN. Trail running is for everyone and is arguably easier and much more interesting that road running, requiring a different kind of concentration and tenacity. You won't run as fast, and your trainers will definitely be muddier, but the sense of freedom and exhilaration you feel from running in wild and remote places is unbeatable.

Our Introduction to Trail Running Day Camp is designed for people who are new to trail running and have a low to moderate level of fitness. We'll be very much going at your pace so this camp is open to everyone who would like to learn more about how to get started, how to get fitter and, most importantly, how NOT to get lost.

We will be kicking off at 9.30am with a quick coffee and introductory briefing before heading out for a run directly from The Forge. You will be running for about 5km with some hills involved but rest assured we always go at the pace of the group so don't worry about slowing anyone down. We will be pausing to rest and point out different techniques and features of the landscape so the run will be very social and relaxed.

Back at The Forge we will show you some warm down and stretching exercises to help your muscles recover and prepare for your next run. You'll also have access to the wood-fired sauna and cold water bucket drench and we'll explain more about the benefits of hot and cold therapy for trail runners.

We'll then settle down for a well-earned lunch where Warren will be on hand to answer any of your nutrition and fuelling questions.

After lunch we'll focus on learning how to navigate using different features in the landscape around us and how to apply this knowledge when you are out running by yourselves. We'll also be showing you some strength and conditioning exercises designed specifically for trail runners.

Finally, towards the end of the afternoon you will have the option of getting a massage from Warren to soothe those tired and aching limbs. The massage will be just an extra £20 for 25 minutes.

Places for this camp are limited to 12 people and it costs £75pp. Click here to book.
