Summer Open Water Swim Programme

Looking to improve your open water swimming? Join us for this series of five swims where we'll teach you the tools and techniques to build up the distance of your wild swims.

If you have been regularly 'dipping' in open water and feel ready to move to the next level then this series could be for you. We are looking to bring on budding wild swimmers who would like to learn how to swim further and faster outdoors.

Over the course of five swims, experienced open water swim coach, Harriet Ballantyne and wild swim guide, Sheena Corry, will help you work on your stroke technique, offering video feedback and specific areas to work on between the sessions. After an initial focus on technical work, we will build up to a longer swim effort, whilst also taking advantage of some of the most stunning wild swimming spots in North Wales.

There will also be the opportunity to relax and unwind in The Forge sauna after the final swim.

The five swims will take place at 10am on the following dates:

Session 1 - Sunday 10th May

ACCLIMATISING FOR THE NEW SEASON

  • Getting comfortable in the water
  • Breathwork focus for relaxation in the water
  • Chatting about goals for the season
  • Initial stroke feedback
  • Mobility work

Session 2 - Sunday 7th June

FRONT CRAWL & BREASTSTROKE FOR OPEN WATER

  • Breathwork consolidation and troubleshooting
  • Individual stroke development and feedback
  • Stroke development for open water
  • Strength session with individual feedback focus points for homework
  • Mobility


Session 3 - Sunday 5th July

SIGHTING

  • Technique development ongoing
  • Sighting progression
  • Building endurance
  • Strength feedback and programme development
  • Mobility session - troubleshooting

Session 4 - Sunday 2nd August

TURNS & NUTRITION

  • Important stroke troubleshooting
  • Turn practice around buoys
  • Short course set up for a longer swim focus
  • Nutrition and mobility

Session 5 - Sunday 30th August

PULLING IT ALL TOGETHER

  • Ongoing technique development
  • Turn practice around buoys
  • Strength and mobility continuation
  • Continue nutrition conversations
  • Sauna and contrast therapy with lunch at The Forge

Exact locations will be shared in advance of each swim, dependent on weather conditions and water quality, and all will be in the North Wales area.

The price for all five swims, including tuition, video feedback and ongoing virtual support (group chats and 1:1 with coaches) is £300pp. This includes hot drinks and homemade cake after each swim.

If you can't make all the dates, you are welcome to join us for an individual session for £75pp.
