We are looking for an awesome Retreat Host to join our team this season to be the ‘Face of The Forge’ to welcome our retreat guests and make sure they have an amazing experience during their stay with us.
We are looking for someone 3-4 days a week, with a flexible start date in March/April through to mid-October.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Retreat Host will be responsible for ensuring that all our retreats run smoothly and that every guest receives 5-star treatment during their stay at The Forge. This role will work directly with The Forge owners and our partner organisations and individual groups who rent out the whole site for their parties and events. As well as supporting the housekeeper and owners to get the site ready, the Retreat Host will be the main point of contact for welcoming the groups to The Forge on arrival and throughout their stay. This will involve ensuring that guest tents and kitchens are well stocked, the site is kept clean and tidy and any issues relating to the site or running the retreats are addressed and resolved quickly. In addition, the Retreat Host will be responsible for catering for some groups using our wood fired pizza oven, barbecue, catering kitchen and outdoor campfires. Ideally the Retreat Host will also have some outdoor education qualifications, for example bushcraft instruction, open water lifeguard qualification and a sound knowledge of our native plant and animal species. This role will also support with the maintenance of The Forge vegetable patch and gardens. There is lots of opportunity to learn about self-sufficient living and rewilding projects as part of this role, with the chance to get involved with our tree planting, wetland area and sustainable building projects.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Preparing the site for our retreat and full site booking guests
- Being the primary point of contact for welcoming retreat guests
- Responding to any requests or issues for the duration of the retreats
- Managing the operations of the site, e.g., replacing gas canisters, replenishing firewood
- Providing catering if required – pizzas, barbecue, and open fire cooking
- Leading on site activities including bushcraft, axe throwing and foraging
- Leading off site activities including guided walks, wild swimming, and paddle boarding
- Posting to social media to help build and sustain The Forge’s brand presence online
- Maintaining The Forge vegetable garden and surrounds
- Getting involved in self-sufficient living and rewilding projects
- Providing input and ideas to the ongoing strategy and evolution of The Forge
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Experience working in the hospitality industry, ideally on a glamping site
- Catering experience - food hygiene certification to be provided if required
- Outdoor education certification, ideally in open water swimming and/or bushcraft (optional)
- First aid qualification (optional) - training will be provided as part of this role
- Land management, wild food foraging and horticultural skills an advantage
- Proven experience in using social media to build a brand presence
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Patient and unflappable attitude
- Practical and problem-solving skills
- Flexible to work outside of routine and regular hours
FURTHER DETAILS
- Seasonal position from March 12th to October 9th (negotiable)
- Part time – up to 30 hours, 3-4 days a week including weekends, flexible working hours
- Salary negotiable commensurate with experience and qualifications
- Evening on-call responsibilities (accommodation available if required)
- Will consider freelance arrangement
- Own transport and clean driving licence essential
- DBS checks will be carried out
