Snuggling up under blankets next to the campfire, eating outside by candlelight, sunsets and night-time wanders under the stars... Glamping makes the perfect romantic retreat.
When was the last time you spent some time together, just you and the one you love, taking some time to enjoy the finer things in life, whilst enjoying lots of fresh air in the great outdoors?
Here are just a few ways in a glamping getaway at The Forge can rekindle the flames of romance, whilst stoking your own campfire…
Take a gentle wander up to the hill fort and enjoy the novelty of not being able to see another house or human being. Breathe in the fresh air and feel the stress ebbing away from your shoulders as you let the breeze blow away the cobwebs. And what could be more quintessentially romantic than watching the sun set over the Snowdonia range the seeing the first twinkling stars come out…
Then spark up the campfire, grab a blanket or two and snuggle up whilst cooking a sausage or toasting marshmallows. There is something so timelessly captivating about watching the flickering flames with the wonderful wafts of wood smoke curling into the air.
Or let us take the strain and enjoy a private dining experience delivered straight to your luxury bell tent. One lucky couple this week were treated to a three-course wild gourmet menu using only ingredients sourced from the wild or grown at The Forge. After a starter of hare loin, with caramelised beetroot, black pudding, bacon and wild greens, our guests enjoyed venison steaks with potatoes, wild garlic, asparagus and red currants. As a final flourish we served up some sloe gin chocolate truffles – using the sloes soaked in last year’s gin, these are definitely not for the faint hearted!
And why not take the opportunity to turn off the tech and spend some time just talking to each other with only the dulcet tones of birdsong and bleating lambs as your background soundtrack. And if that proves a bit too taxing crack open a bottle of something nice and break out the board games. All the old favourites have been proving a big hit with our guests this month: Trivial Pursuit, Boggle, Scrabble and the faithful old pack of cards. The perfect bonding experience…as long as thing don’t get too competitive of course…
My girlfriend and I spent an incredible night here for her birthday. I had been looking for something a little different, rather than going out for a meal and drinks. I emailed Jamie at very short notice asking if there was anything a bit special he could do for us. He proposed an overnight stay in one of the glamping tents, with a meal cooked by himself for us. We were both blown away everything from start to finish. The tent and the facilities are without doubt the best I've ever seen. Perfectly clean, lovely comfortable bed and all the necessary kitchen utensils and equipment you could need plus tea, coffee, hot chocolate, milk and fresh eggs.
The real highlight of the stay was the meal, all cooked to perfection by Jamie, who explained where all the ingredients came from which is always a nice touch.
In short, a fantastic experience, in an incredible location with a wonderful host. I would highly recommend a visit and we will certainly be returning.
