We are looking for someone 3 days a week, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, starting 1st May until 5th October.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Retreat Host will be responsible for ensuring that all our retreats run smoothly and that every guest receives 5-star treatment during their stay at The Forge. This role will work directly with The Forge owners and our partner organisations and individual groups who hire out the whole site for their retreats and events.
As well as undertaking all the housekeeping duties to get the site ready, the Retreat Host will be the main point of contact for welcoming guests to The Forge on arrival and throughout their stay. This will involve ensuring that guest tents and kitchens are well stocked, the site is kept clean and tidy and any issues relating to the site or running the retreats are addressed and resolved quickly.
The Retreat Host will be on point to prepare the sauna and conduct regular water quality testing on the wild swimming pond. In addition, the Retreat Host will be responsible for catering for some groups using our wood fired pizza oven, barbecue, catering kitchen and outdoor campfires. Ideally the Retreat Host will also have some outdoor education qualifications, for example bushcraft instruction, open water lifeguard qualification and a sound knowledge of our native plant and animal species.
This role will also support with the maintenance of The Forge vegetable patch and gardens. There is lots of opportunity to learn about self-sufficient living and rewilding projects as part of this role, with the chance to get involved with our tree planting, wetland area creation, and sustainable building projects.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Preparing the site for our retreat and full site booking guests
- Housekeeping duties including making up beds, cleaning compost loos and camp kitchens
- Cleaning the sauna, showers, catering kitchen and communal cabins spaces
- Being the primary point of contact for welcoming retreat guests
- Responding to any requests or issues for the duration of the retreats
- Managing the operations of the site, e.g., replacing gas canisters, replenishing firewood
- Providing catering if required – pizzas, barbecue, and open fire cooking
- Facilitating onsite sauna and wild swimming sessions
- Leading on site activities including bushcraft, axe throwing and forest bathing
- Leading off site activities including guided walks, wild swimming, and foraging
- Managing the onsite shop including ordering stock, creating displays and serving our guests
- Posting to social media to help build and sustain The Forge’s brand presence online
- Maintaining The Forge vegetable garden and surrounds
- Getting involved in self-sufficient living and rewilding projects
- Providing input and ideas to the ongoing strategy and evolution of The Forge
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Experience working in the hospitality industry, ideally on a glamping site
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Very close attention to detail
- Patient and unflappable attitude
- Practical and problem-solving skills
- Flexible to work outside of routine and regular hours
OPTIONAL PREFERRED SKILLS
- Catering experience - food hygiene certification to be provided if required
- Outdoor education certification, ideally in open water swimming and/or bushcraft
- First aid qualification - training will be provided as part of this role
- Land management, wild food foraging and horticultural skills
- Proven experience in using social media to build a brand presence
FURTHER DETAILS
- Seasonal position from 1st May to 5th October
- Part time – 3 days a week, Friday, Saturday and Sunday
- Salary in the region of £32k pro rata - negotiable commensurate with experience and qualifications
- Will consider freelance arrangement
- Own transport and clean driving licence essential
- DBS checks will be carried out
