We are looking for a Seasonal Operations Manager and a Seasonal Housekeeper to join our team this summer. If you are passionate about the great outdoors, love working with people and care deeply about living more sustainably then get in touch!

SEASONAL OPERATIONS MANAGER

Our Operations Manager is central to creating the unique Forge experience that our guests rave about and come back to enjoy again and again. They will ensure that everything runs like clockwork and that every single guest feels special and immediately at home at The Forge.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, passionate self-starter who is able to work as part of team or by themselves and demonstrates an exceptional level of customer service to guests from all backgrounds. We are a family-run business and are keen to share and build our sustainable way of living with someone who cares as much about this as we do!

What you need to know...

  • Seasonal position from March 12th to September 30th
  • Full time – 37.5 hours, 5 days a week including weekends, flexible working hours
  • £18k per annum pro rata’d
  • Position must live on-site or be very local for on-call duties
  • Accommodation provided as part of the role (with a small rental charge)
  • Will consider a couple (potentially for both jobs with same salary) and well-behaved pets
  • Own transport and clean driving licence essential
  • DBS checks will be carried out

What will be expected of you...

The Glamping Site Operations Manager will be responsible for managing all day-to-day running and some out-of-hours customer enquiries of our glamping site. This live-in position will manage the housekeeping staff and all front of house responsibilities, ensuring that all accommodation is ready to our exceptionally high standards and that all our guests have the unique Forge experience on arrival and throughout their stay. In addition, this role will also support with the maintenance of The Forge vegetable patch and gardens. There is lots of opportunity to learn about self-sufficient living and rewilding projects as part of this role, with the chance to get involved with our tree planting, wetland area and sustainable building projects.

Specifically, the Glamping Site Operations Manager will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing and supporting all the housekeeping activities (preparation of bell tents, cabins and gypsy caravan, showers and composting toilets)
  • Line managing seasonal housekeeping staff
  • Ensuring that they and the wider team comply with our strict CV19 policies and cleaning procedures
  • Meeting and greeting customers and checking them into accommodation
  • Managing the customer booking system and communicating with guests in advance and after their stay
  • Supporting with the preparation and running of full site bookings
  • Responding to ad-hoc customer requests 24 hours a day (when on call, approx. 2 nights a week)
  • Posting to social media to help build and sustain The Forge’s brand presence online
  • Maintaining The Forge vegetable garden and surrounds
  • Getting involved in self-sufficient living and rewilding projects

What we are looking for...

  • Sufficient experience within the hospitality industry, ideally on a glamping site
  • Land management, wild food foraging and horticultural skills an advantage
  • First aid qualification required – refresher training will be provided as part of this role
  • Competence in working with online booking tools (ideally InnStyle and Airbnb)
  • Proven experience in using social media to build a brand presence
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Patient and unflappable attitude
  • Flexible to work outside of routine and regular hours
  • Practical and problem-solving skills

SEASONAL HOUSEKEEPER

Our housekeeping team add the luxury into our glamping site and ensure every guest experiences the 'wow' factor when they arrive. They make sure every tent and cabin is presented perfectly so our guests can kick back and relax as soon as they walk through the gate.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and hard-working individual who has exceptional attention to detail, a good eye for presentation and excellent time management skills. This role may suit a working parent as the hours required are during the school day, 9am – 3pm, 2 days a week.

What you need to know...

  • Seasonal position from March 12th to October 31st
  • Expected 12 hours a week – Mondays and Fridays, 9am – 3pm
  • £17.5k per annum pro rata’d
  • Due to current pandemic this will be a zero hours contract as some weeks may not be required
  • Own transport and clean driving licence essential

What will be expected of you...

The Glamping Site Seasonal Housekeeper will be responsible for preparing all of the bell tents, gypsy caravan and cabin accommodation to the very highest standards for guests. This involves changing linen, hoovering, and deep cleaning kitchens, showers and composting toilets. The housekeeping tasks also involve sweeping out and preparing firewood for the log burning stoves, recycling grey water, and adding in the final touches including welcome hampers, fresh flowers, free range eggs and local milk. This role will work alongside the Operations Manager and the wider Forge Team on Mondays and Fridays to perform a full changeover.

Specifically, the Seasonal Housekeeper will be responsible for:

  • Changing linen and ensuring all soft furnishings are clean and well-presented
  • Hoovering the carpets using our battery-operated hoovers
  • Cleaning out the log burning stoves and preparing firewood for guests
  • Emptying bins, grey water and recycling
  • Deep cleaning all kitchen areas and replacing sundry items as required
  • Deep cleaning the composting toilets and ensuring there is sawdust, toilet paper and anti-bacterial gel
  • Deep cleaning the showers and catering sink areas
  • Preparing the communal cabin as required for group events
  • Ensuring all solar powered battery packs are fully charged after each changeover
  • Complying with our strict CV19 policies and cleaning procedures at all times
  • Creating order lists for replacement housekeeping items including batteries, cleaning products and all sundry items
  • Reporting any damaged or missing inventory promptly to management
  • Flower arranging and welcome hamper preparation when required

What we are looking for...

  • Previous experience not essential but a background in housekeeping an advantage
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Experience of working within a team
  • Must be a quick learner with a practical and problem-solving mindset
  • Ability to use own initiative and work independently when required
  • Friendly, hard-working and enthusiastic with a warm, welcoming smile
