You get all the perks of camping – sleeping in a tent, cooking over a campfire, toasting marshmallows, but with NONE of the clobber and set up. Imagine just having to pack your PJs and your toothbrush and having all that extra SPACE in the car!

2. It’s a little bit luxurious

For families where maybe someone is keener on full-on camping and someone else is more up for a five star hotel, glamping is a very happy medium. You get real beds with crisp white cotton sheets, carpets, real coffee and a hammock, plus you’ll still get that lovely sound of the zip when you open your tent to a stunning view of the mountains in the morning.

We are completely spoiled for choice with wild swim spots here in Wales. Whether you are more of a sea dipper or a devout waterfall hunter, we have something for you. Lots of safe spots for kids and beginners. Outrageously gorgeous hidden gems for the more intrepid.

6. Food

You will be hard pushed to find a better supply of fresh, local produce than in Wales. From salt marsh lamb to fresh Menai oysters, here in Wales we were doing the whole localism thing way before it even became a thing.

7. Cake!

If you have never tried a lightly toasted Welsh cake or slice of Bara Brith slathered with inch thick Welsh salted butter, you have never lived. This is one of life’s true pleasures, and only to be found in Wales!

8. Castles

We do a wonderful line in historic castles here in North Wales. Edward I and his mob knew a thing or two about building something to last! Get your medieval on with a visit to one of our 13th century strongholds and be transported to the time of Owain Glyndwr. Conveniently, most of our castles are also situated next to amazing beaches.

9. Beaches

Which brings me on to…… the seaside! We’ve got it all in Wales – good old-fashioned seaside towns with seagulls nicking your chips, buckets and spades and even a traditional Punch and Judy show. Or totally remote, secret coves with only the seals for company. The only problem you’ll have is choosing which glorious, yellow sandy beach to go to!

10. Starry, starry nights

Wales is one of the last dark sky areas in the whole of the UK and on a clear night you will be dazzled by views of the milky way and all the constellations. Lie back on our hill fort with a blanket and a nice drink and let your mind take you away from it all for a while.
